How to Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

How to Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

It’s a new year and that usually means a new journey begins - new goals, new dreams, new challenges and new opportunities.

You decide you're "going for it this year" and set out to make big dreams come true!

You go ALL IN and decide to fully COMMIT!

But after some time passes... what tends to happen to those big commitments?

You miss one workout, and then another, and another... right?

I get it. I've totally been there too.

I set the bar so high that my commitments were a bit unrealistic and caused a lot of pressure that something had to give... not fun!

To support you with creating and honoring your commitments in a much more easy and graceful way for 2018... here are 3 tips to do it differently this year:

1. Appreciate how far you’ve come.

Before starting something new, it’s important to take the time to pause and reflect.

Think back to the year long journey you just completed.

Can you appreciate where you are today and how far you’ve come in order to be exactly where you are now?

Think about where you were at the beginning of last year and where you are today...

  • What experiences did you have?
  • What opportunities came your way?
  • What challenges did you go through that helped you to grow?
  • What patterns did you release?
  • What dreams did you achieve?
  • What did you learn about yourself?

No matter where you are now and how far you still want to go in this next year of your life… look back on the journey you just completed and notice that where you’re standing today is a place you only dreamt about reaching… and now you’re “there.”

As Spiritual Beings having a Human Experience, we’re driven to grow, to dream, to achieve, to experience, to expand and to seek our next destination… our next “there.”  That’s the journey of life.

Instead of always focusing on the distance you have yet to travel to reach your next “there,” take a moment to pause and appreciate where you stand today.

From yesterday’s perspective, today you’re already “there.”

Before you embark on the road ahead in 2018, take the time to appreciate how far you’ve come and CELEBRATE YOURSELF!

For what it took – all the growth, the challenges, the dedication, the hard work, the joy – to be where you are right now deserves to be honored, appreciated and celebrated!

When you practice appreciating yourself for how far you've already come... it becomes the fuel that propels you forward into the next phase of your journey!

2. Set big intentions and small commitments

It's important to know the difference between setting intentions and making commitments.

How to experience more Joy

How to experience more Joy

As human beings, we all want to feel happy and joyful in our lives. However, feeling good depends on your capacity to allow yourself to fully feel everything.

When you try to feel "good" by getting rid of your negative feelings, you end up blocking yourself from all emotions.

You see, emotions run on one continuous spectrum and they're all connected.

When you numb one emotion, you end up numbing them all.

Negative emotions aren’t "bad" and positive emotions aren’t "good." If you remove the labels of “happiness, sadness, anger, etc.” and define a feeling without its label, you’ll discover an emotion is only energy moving.

Certain types of energy may be more enjoyable to feel, however suffering doesn’t come from energy moving, it comes from RESISTANCE to allowing that energy t0 move through you.

Suffering comes from resisting what is!
